A Rose by any other name
….. from William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Act II, scene ii.
Yes, our beloved Rose Melton passed away on May 5th, just five days shy of her 88th birthday and six days before Mother’s Day, which had been planned by her extended family to be a special day indeed. In their words (which we all truly understand) “it is not easy losing her when we should be celebrating her”.
The abbreviated story of Rose’s rich life can be found here; Rose Marie Williams Melton Obituary May 5, 2025 – Lowe Gardner Funeral Home
A graveside service is planned for this Saturday, 24 May at 11:00 a.m. at Concord Cemetery with Brother Fred Morrow officiating. If you are planning to make the short, two-hour drive out to beautiful east Texas to attend, please heed the following, since both the map and the text directions provided by the funeral home are in error (the former takes you closer to Quitman and the latter takes you to Hainesville):
Concord Cemetery is located across the street from Hubbard Chapel Baptist Church at the southwest corner of the intersection of FM 778 and FM 2590 (5.3 miles SE of Quitman and 1.8 miles NW of Hainesville on FM 778). Despite the current Metroplex weather, Saturday’s forecast in Quitman calls for clear skies with temperatures in the low to mid 80’s.
Drive safely, and pay my respects to Rose’s family, since I am out of town visiting family of my own.
