Retired long-time E-Teamer Sandy Rushing passed away peacefully at her home in Garland on 21 May at the age of 80.
Memorial services for Sandy will be held on Friday, 6 June at Restland/Dallas (13005 Greenville Avenue), with a visitation in the Wildwood Chapel at 1:00 pm and the service beginning at 2:00 pm.
Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, Sandra Payne spent her formative years in Lampasas, TX, graduating Lampasas High School in 1962. She attended McMurry College in Abilene, TX from 1962 to 1966, studying Business/Secretarial Science under the umbrella of Business Administration. At that time, she met her future husband, Larry Rushing, subsequently raising two daughters, LeAnn and Laurie.
Sandy joined E-Systems in February of 1982 and retired 31 years later in March of 2013. Like many of us, she enjoyed the growth heyday throughout the 1980s and withstood the challenges of the E-Systems-to-Raytheon transition back in the mid-1990s. The latter portions of her tenure with the company were spent as an Executive Assistant in Bldg 582 supporting the HighPoint and Hatchetman programs under Richard Sheppard and Wayne Martin. She spent her entire career at the Jupiter Road campus, retiring from the company before its subsequent relocation to the Richardson CityLine campus in 2016.
In recent years, Sandy had been struggling with the effects of Parkinson’s Disease but leaves behind a large number of friends and extended family members who will remember her for her warm smile and infectious laughter.
