Arlanders Mitchell Sr., who was known to co-workers, friends, and family as “Pecos”, passed away on Wednesday, 16 June, just a few short weeks short of his 78th birthday after a long and fruitful life and a battle with prostate cancer.

Pecos came to us here in Garland after being born and raised in Lubbock, the oldest among his seven siblings.  In the post-WW2 years of his early upbringing, he excelled in sports, music, and artistry … characteristics that would shape his life going forward.  He was a city champion in Track while attending Lubbock’s Dunbar High School, and developed an amazing singing voice that propelled his interests in music through church, chorus, and the Ebontide Quartet, a gospel singing group he co-founded while he was a student at Lubbock Christian College.

Pecos was known among us E-Teamers through his work in both Tech Pubs and the Print Shop; anyone who ever led a proposal effort likely encountered Pecos on many occasions throughout the life cycle of that effort.

His memorial services will be held this coming Friday, June 26th at the Greenville Avenue Church of Christ beginning at 10:00 am.  Additional information can be found at his obituary:  Arlanders Mitchell Sr. Obituary | 1948 – 2026 | Garland, TX
