Charlie was a Dallas native, born on 6 Mar 1938.  He was the youngest and last remaining family member of a large number of siblings, having grown up with four sisters and six brothers. Prior to his birth, his family lived for a time in Greenville, TX, but raised Charlie in Dallas.  Charlie enlisted in the US Navy in 1955 at the tender age of 17 and served for six years as a seaman until exiting in late 1961.  After leaving the Navy, he honed his trade skills and eventually became a Master Electrician and spent much of his remaining working career in the Facilities Department at the Garland Division where he eventually became the Supervisor of all electricians therein.  Charlie married his wife Shirley in 1981 and were together for 39 years (15 of which they were both employed at E-Systems) until her passing on 10 Jul 2020.  They leave behind an extraordinary number of kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

Charlie used his technical talents helping others – co-workers, friends, family – with their electrical needs.   He was a true jack-of-all-trades; if something needed fixing, there was no need to call someone else – Charlie was “the guy.”  He also was an avid softball player, pitching for several E-Systems teams including The Bad News Bears.  He was one “Good ol’ Boy!”

Charlie and Shirley lived in Rowlett for many years until his first retirement allowed them to travel the country in their RV for a short time.  Their travels took them to New Mexico where he worked as an electrician with his brother at a horse racetrack.  Eventually, they returned to Texas in 2010 to live out their days near their kids in Gun Barrel City.  Upon Shirley’s passing in 2020, Charlie inherited her beloved dog “Panda”, who accompanied him to the Midlothian Health Care facility where he spent the final four years of a life well-lived.
