Terry Beemer

Sorry for the late and untimely notice, but we just received word this morning that Terry Beemer, a former colleague, passed away last month (12 Sep 2026) at the age of 79, and a remembrance for him is scheduled for tomorrow morning, Saturday 24 October at his home in Richardson from 10am until Noon. The address is 2116 Brandeis Drive, which is just south of the Sherrill Park Golf Course between Plano Road and Jupiter Road

Although Terry’s tenure at Raytheon was comparatively short (1997~2002), he spent many years at Electrospace Systems in Richardson beforehand (1978~1997) and many years at L3/Harris in Greenville afterward (2002~????).  It appears that Terry retired from L3/Harris in the 2022 timeframe, but that is unconfirmed at present.  Since both of these transitions were a direct result of the Raytheon acquisition and spinoff spree happening in the 1996 timeframe and beyond, our paths often crossed and many of us had the pleasure of working with Terry in one capacity or another over the years.

Terry received his Mechanical Engineering degree from Kansas State University in 1970 and immediately joined Texas Instruments in Dallas as a Mechanical Design Engineer.  While at TI, he attended SMU with the goal of a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, but that effort was cut short by his departure to John Deere in Dubuque, IA (“Mister is this Heaven?”; ‘No son, it’s Iowa”) where he worked from 1973 to 1978.  Terry returned to the DFW Metroplex when he joined ESI in 1978, beginning a career in the defense industry spanning over four decades.
